Vishnu is the second god of the trimūrti. The trimūrti embodies the cycle of manifestation, conservation and dissolution of the universe of which Brahma is the creator, Vishnu the protector and Shiva the destroyer. He is often seen sleeping. But in his sleep he prepares the next world. Because it is the God of the stability of the World. Like Brahma he has four arms. . In the first hand he holds a conch shell which allows the diffusion of the divine sound "Om", and in which he blows to defeat the demons. On his second hand is a spinning disk (chakra) around his index finger, a reminder of the wheel of time. His third hand contains a lotus which is a symbol of a glorious existence. Finally his fourth hand he holds a club which is the indication of power and the capacity for punishment if discipline in life is ignored. His vehicle is a swift bird, Garuda. Vishnu rests on the bed of the mighty coiled serpent, Seshanag which represents the sleeping universe. Vishnu has ten avatars: the fish, the turtle, the boar, the man-lion, the dwarf, Rama the fighting prince, Rama the hero, Krishna and Buddha. The tenth avatar has not appeared yet....
Lakshmi is the main wife of Vishnu
